Every day I found myself proclaiming, “Holy shit, I love this bike!”.It was playful on the trail and easy to get the wheels off the ground.
Bottom line, the term “trail bike” gets used pretty liberally at Yeti.More than just added travel we wanted to enhance the whole package. The patented Switch Infinity has been laid out to have supple small bump compliance but ramp up quicker in the mid-stroke while still allowing for bottom-out control with a 12% progressive leverage ratio.Big mountain feel, capable, lively, with a centered rider position.Refined for the unknown and everything in between the SB130's Switch Infinity provides more progressive ride without effecting the anti-squat properties.Across our line, we have chosen a relatively flat and high anti-squat curve in beginning and mid-section of travel where pedaling commonly occurs a.k.a the pedaling zone. This 29er trail bike is the most aggressively versatile MTB I've ridden yet. The SB130 is more progressive than the SB5.5, but not as quite as progressive as the SB150, since riders are less likely to run a coil shock on this 130mm travel trail bike. On climbs, I skipped through mats of off-camber roots and kept pace through tricky spots that sometimes grind me to a halt. The bike is heavier than I expected — around 29 pounds for a Turq XX1 build with Shimano XT platform pedals. Yeti wanted to make a Richie Rude approved, EWS-specific 29er - the SB150 - along with a bike that would be an improvement on the SB 5.5, which is where the SB130 comes in.

It certainly doesn’t offer the razor-sharp handling of a shorter, steeper bike, but feels much more composed at speed and on steep terrain than the most nimble, XC-oriented Trail bikes, while still being sprightly enough to be fun on more rolling, mellow terrain.Dylan: I am mostly in agreement with David here.
Other than the wheel size difference he felt they notched in similarly.Seems like an oddly aggressive build for a 130mm bike at all price points when it could easily be built up at or even under 30lbs with a non-piggyback shock, 34 fork, 2 piston brakes with Icetech rotors instead of quad piston, and of course slimmer tires. The brake lever’s clamp sits unusually far inboard, and has a small nub that rests against the bar to reduce flex, just inboard of the grip, preventing the brake lever from being moved further out.
But as David noted, the issue of being able to cut down a wide bar and not lengthen a short one is something to consider.David: For a mid-travel 29er Trail bike with fairly progressive (i.e., long) geometry, the SB130 feels like it falls near the middle of the spectrum, from nimble / poppy to stable / hard charging.
